Adding a waitlist to a course
- Requires access to JN AccessAlly WP site
- Requires access to Ontraport
- Requires access to metrics spreadsheet
Procedure
- Find the AccessAlly offering for the course
- Go to the forms tab
- Make sure that under Paid Access Forms, all the paid forms show up correctly (you should be able to see the names, and when you click the edit icon, you should see the page that the form is embedded on. If they are not there, add them. (If you see forms with blank names that come up empty when you click edit icon, delete them and add fresh ones.
- To add a new payment form, click +Add at the top of the page, and choose “Add Existing Order Form.
- Start typing the name of the form to find it (it contain the course name), then select it
- In the selection box below for “Select the page that shows this order form”, start typing the course name again to search for the page called ”Buy xxx” where xxx is you course name, and select it
- Check “Only allow purchase / sign-up during a specified time window”
- Set the open period to something in the past, e.g., Jan1-Jan 31 2025
- Make sure to select the new waitlist in the “Redirect to a waitlist opt-in when the limit has been exceeded” field
- Save.
- This will create the waitlist form and page behind the scenes.
- It will be named something like “The Universal Language with Josh Nichol Mini Course Waitlist 1" (search pages for “waitlist” and look for the name of the course you are creating the waitlist for)
- First Edit the page on the back end and copy the shortcode for the waitlist form.
- Then, view the new page, then edit in in Visual Builder
- When prompted, “Choose a Premade Layout” then click on the purple “Your Saved Layouts” tab) and choose “Course Waitlist Page”, and then click the blue “Use this Layout” button
- Edit the top text box to put the title of this course. Any mention of “Mini Course” should be replaced with “Focus Course”
- Update the existing image if necessary
- Edit the bottom text section to use the right opt-in form id in the shortcode, e.g. “[accessally_form form_id=“6”]" (you should have copied this from the page before editing. If you didn’t you can find it from AccessAlly->Settings->Opt-in forms->your form->Display
- Update the page and view it to make sure it looks correct
- Finally, create a thank you page where users will get redirected when they complete the waitlist form
- New page
- Name it XXX Waitlist Thank You Page (where XXX is the name of the course)
- Click use the Divi Builder
- When prompted, “Choose a Premade Layout” then click on the purple “Your Saved Layouts” tab) and choose “Course Waitlist Thank You Page”, and then click the blue “Use this Layout” button
- Update the top text block to use the name of the current course
- Publish the page and view it to make sure it looks okay
- Copy the URL for the next step
- Go back to AccessAlly->Offerings->this course offering->Forms->Waitlists
- Edit the waitlist with the pencil icon (this will open it in AccessAlly->Settings->Opt-in forms, so you could also go directly there)
- Under the Settings tab, paste the waitlist page URL into the field “Subscribers will be redirected to this page after opting in.”
- Save the form
- View all the pages with order forms (usually one live and one recordings) in an incognito window and make sure that instead of seeing the order form, you see the waitlist form.
- If you’re not in incognito, the regular order page will show
- If you don’t see the waitlist page after entering the order page URL, revisit this setting: offering->Forms->Enrollment Limits
- click the pencil icon, and make sure to select the new waitlist in the “Redirect to a waitlist opt-in when the limit has been exceeded” field (I’ve seen this become “unselected” during the rest of the process, and had to set it again
- Test the waitlist by entering a test name and email address into the form
- make sure you’re redirected to the waitlist thank you page
- check Ontraport to make sure your contact has been given the waitlist tag for the course (It should be “name of course Waitlisted”)
- make sure you’re redirected to the waitlist thank you page
- The Bridge course has the usual AccessAlly waitlists for the order forms.
- However, since people are expected to apply first, we need a waitlist in place of the application form.
- This is done in Ontraport. There’s a waitlist page which should be published at the same URL as the application page (after the application page is unpublished).
- Reference Offering: The Bridge Course for more details.
